Confidential Support for Lawyers, Doctors and Executives

Some people cannot afford to fall apart.

When you are a lawyer, doctor, or executive carrying more than anyone around you knows, finding safe support feels almost impossible. For 15 years I have worked confidentially with lawyers, doctors, and executives who needed private support and performance psychology outside of conventional counselling systems.

No EAP involvement. No workplace connection. Complete discretion.

Who I Work With

The pattern is specific.
The people are not.

Most of the people who find their way to me recognise themselves in one of these descriptions before they recognise themselves in any clinical language.

I  ·  The Lawyer

You have not slept properly in weeks. Your assistant has started covering for you. The work is the same as it has always been. You are not. You are keeping it together. That is the problem.

II  ·  The Doctor

You are technically strong and emotionally drained. You have been this way for longer than is healthy for you. The long hours and constant pressure have taken their toll, gradually, while everyone around you assumed you were fine.

III  ·  The Executive

The decisions are still being made. The strategy is still being delivered. But your marriage has become a logistics arrangement, your sleep is broken, and you realised three months ago that you do not actually know how you are. You have told no one.

The Pattern

Survival mode at the top.

Survival mode in a senior professional does not look like falling apart. It looks like intense focus that gets mistaken for discipline. Emotional detachment that gets mistaken for professionalism. Quick decisions that get mistaken for leadership. Absorbing an overwhelming workload that people call being capable.

It is a real physiological state. A weekend off or a meditation app will not fix it.

Your body is in a constant state of stress with no time to recover. Your hormone patterns have changed. You are using a short-term biological survival strategy that has lasted for years. Your career rewards this behavior, but your personal life suffers the consequences.

The private work I do with lawyers, doctors, and executives begins by naming what is actually happening. It draws on counselling, performance psychology, and nervous system science, not as separate disciplines, but as one integrated response. For most of the people I see, this is the first time anyone has described their experience with this much precision. From there, the process is personalised. The physiology, the psychology, the professional context, and the family dimension are addressed at the same time, by the same person, in complete confidence.

How I Work

Privately. Always.

i.

Everything begins with a private enquiry. No open booking system. No online scheduler. You contact me directly and I respond personally, usually within 24 hours.

ii.

From there we have a single confidential conversation to establish whether the work is the right fit. No obligation, no pressure, no record of the conversation beyond the two of us.

iii.

If we proceed, the work is entirely individual. No group settings, no firm involvement, no connection to your workplace in any form. Sessions are conducted privately, in person in Melbourne or remotely, depending on what suits your situation.

iv.

Everything discussed remains completely confidential. Always.

About

Jonathan Riley

I have spent fifteen years working privately with lawyers, doctors, and executives who are in survival mode but cannot safely use conventional counselling or support systems.

My background spans counselling, performance psychology, nervous system science, sleep health, leadership strategy, and family and couples therapy. Not as separate disciplines. As one integrated response to a pattern that touches every part of a senior professional’s life.

The people I work with are not struggling in obvious ways. They are performing at the highest level of their profession while quietly paying a cost no one around them can see. That is the specific pattern I have spent fifteen years learning to recognise and address.

My Practice is private, deliberately small, and works almost entirely by referral. If someone who knows my work sent you here, you are in the right place.

From the People I Work With

No names. No firms. No identifying details. Just the work.

"I had not realised how much of my functioning was being held together by sheer willpower until we started this work. The change was not loud. It was simply that I stopped paying a price I had stopped noticing."

A senior partner, national law firm

"This is the only place I have been able to be honest about what running a major practice has cost me. The discretion is real. The work is even more so."

Consultant physician, metropolitan hospital

"I came expecting another version of the support I had already tried. What I found was someone who saw the pattern before I had finished describing it."
